Exercise 3: relevant answers in IELTS Speaking

This exercise will help you to get a better understanding of how to give a relevant answer in IELTS Speaking test. To complete the exercise, listen to each of the audio recordings below and think of what the question asks you to do.

Example: what does this question ask you to do?

Do you think that the city where you live is a dangerous place?
   give a reason
   give an opinion
   compare or contrast
   suggest

This question starts with a phase 'do you think', indicating that you're expected to give your opinion. But to answer this question properly, you should give an opinion and also support it with a reason. It is not obvious, but giving reason for your opinion is always a good practice.
